CAME today celebrates its first 50 years by dedicating a whole day to the people who have made, and continue to make, its history. The setting for the celebration of 50 years of innovation, passion for technology and evolution is the Group’s headquarters in Dosson di Casier, just outside Treviso.

During the event, which was also attended by the Mayor of Casier, founder Cav. Paolo Menuzzo was presented with a plaque in recognition of his entrepreneurial abilities by the Chairman of Assindustria for Central Veneto, Leopoldo Destro, who commented: “Although this is, in general, a difficult time, with everything that is going on, we have to always believe in the future and be optimistic. This is the mindset that has allowed CAME to stand the test of time and adapt to all the historical, market and cultural changes that have taken place over these 50 years.Today we are here not to celebrate a point of arrival, but a departure towards new paths and new goals.”

CAME’s history started in the 1970s, when Paolo Menuzzo designed FROG, the first automatic gate powered by a watertight underground electromechanical motor, which has since become an icon. In those days, owning a motorised gate was a status symbol, and the idea of making it an affordable product for many was a winner. The second milestone was BIMBO, the first pocket-sized, miniature radio control, designed to be attached to a car dashboard or sun visor or carried in a handbag. Having opened its first goods shed in the 1980s, the company took its first steps towards expansion in Italy and the rest of Europe in the 1990s, while the technological advancement led to a strong expansion of the automation range. The 2000s were characterised by the first acquisitions and the start of international expansion, as well as CAME’s ability to intercept a new trend, the “security” business. Then came the major projects of the second decade of the millennium, such as the World Exposition in Milan in 2015, which subsequently led to the era of integration between proprietary and third-party products and the completion of ambitious town-planning and community projects, through to the recent automation of the access control system for one of the world’s largest stadiums, in Qatar.

This is how the company has grown from a small local business with 4 employees and a turnover of 3 million Italian lira in the early 1970s to become a holding with more than 2000 staff that closed 2021 with a turnover of 260 million euros and is set to close 2022 with a turnover of approximately 290 million euros. In half a century, the Menuzzo family has come a long way and success has taken it all over the world, thanks, above all, to the internationalisation work done by Andrea Menuzzo, the President of the company since 2018. CAME now owns 11 manufacturing sites, of which 3 are in Veneto and Friuli-Venezia Giulia, while the others are located in France, Spain, England, Turkey and Brazil; it serves the market with branches in 20 countries, operates in 118 countries worldwide through partners and distributors and boasts some 10 R&D facilities.

“It is a pleasure for me to be here and share this moment with all our staff, stakeholders and partners, who have helped to write CAME’s story and continue to do so today,” commented Andrea MenuzzoPresident of CAME“Today, we celebrate the first 50 years of our company, we have come a long way and have a achieved a great many successes to be proud of. At the same time, we look to the future, to the important plans for growth in which technology and integration will play an increasingly central role. Over the past 50 years, we have lain the foundations for being able one day to celebrate 100 years of CAME and in the next few days we will start to work towards this new goal.”

The secret of this success is well described by CAME's company vision: to always believe in a world where sustainable technological innovation makes people's lives easier, safer and more comfortable.

With its solutions, CAME is now able to satisfy the most diverse needs by adapting its technology to the requirements of each and every project: automation, smart homes, access control and security and parking systems. Without forgetting the relationship with design, so that products are not just innovative and high-performance, but also a pleasure to see and use.
