Swing gate operators
A complete range of motors and automations for swing gates, designed for vehicular driveways and pedestrian gates. The line includes solutions featuring fixed-arm or articulated-arm technology, as well as iconic underground solutions, adapting to any gate type, leaf weight, and usage. Most articulated-arm operators come equipped with a control board as standard, while fixed-arm and underground models can be paired with various types of external control panels based on specific installation needs.
Underground systems
CAME underground systems represent an elegant solution for the automation of residential and commercial gates. They are installed flush to the ground under the gate uprights, guaranteeing an unaltered aesthetic appearance when the gate is closed.

Straight arm
Straight arm solutions are designed to ensure efficient opening and closing of gates whilst offering safety and ease of use. Thanks to the most advanced mechanical and electronic technologies, these motors provide constant speed during the movement of the gate, ensuring smooth and reliable performance over time.
What is C max?
That is the centre-distance between the inner corner of the post and the gate’s rotating axis. The limits to this measurement allow you to pick the most suitable operator for any gate.

Articulated arm systems
Articulated arm solutions are versatile and reliable. Thanks to their design, they adapt to different types of installation and are specifically designed for settings with larger pillars. The articulated arm systems all have a built-in control board.
What is C max?
That is the centre-distance between the inner corner of the post and the gate’s rotating axis. The limits to this measurement allow you to pick the most suitable operator for any gate.
What is the best automation system for a swing gate?
- Choosing one automation system over another depends on the leaf’s weight and length, the pillar type, and the frequency of use. Fixed-arm solutions, such as the ATI, AXI, ATS, and AXO ranges are suitable for most residential and commercial installations. Articulated-arm systems like STYLO, FAST, and FERNI are preferred for large pillars and are required beyond certain C dimension thresholds. Underground automations, such as the FROG series, are ideal when you prefer to keep the motor invisible when the gate is closed for aesthetic reasons, among other benefits.
How to choose the right motor for a swing gate?
- Selecting the right motor starts with three key measurements: the maximum weight of the leaf, its length, and the max C dimension (see the dedicated question below). Additionally, consider the frequency of use (residential vs. apartment building/intensive) and the power supply best suited to the system (24V, 230V, or 400V). Undersizing a motor relative to the weight or length of the leaf leads to faster wear and equipment failure.
What is the max C dimension?
- It is the center distance between the mounting surface of the motor bracket and the gate’s rotation axis. The limits of this dimension vary from model to model and determine which automation system can be installed on a specific gate.
How to connect the motor to a swing gate?
- The motor is secured to the pillar and leaf using the supplied mounting brackets, adhering to the angles and distances specified in the manual for the chosen model. It is then connected to the control panel following the specific wiring diagram. Safety devices, such as photocells and safety edges, must always be connected and tested prior to commissioning. To ensure proper installation, current regulations require the system to be set up by a qualified installer, who will issue the technical file and declaration of conformity.
Which type of gate is best: sliding or swing?
- It depends on the available space. Swing gates are the most classic aesthetic choice for narrower driveways, but they require clear space for the leaves to open inward or outward. Sliding gates do not require clearance space in front of the opening and are preferred on sloping ground or irregular driveways; however, they do require a clear lateral track for the leaf to slide open.
How many photocells are needed for a swing gate?
- The minimum configuration includes one pair of photocells to protect the closing edge of the gate. For residential installations, a second pair is typically added on the passage side to detect the presence of people, pets, or vehicles throughout the leaf’s movement. For wider driveways or apartment buildings, additional pairs may be required based on the installer’s risk assessment in accordance with applicable standards.
How do you adjust the limit switches on CAME swing gates?
- To adjust the limit switches on a CAME swing gate, first identify the system type: mechanical or electronic. For example, on NEW ATI models equipped with mechanical limit switches, remove the aluminum cover and adjust the metal stops along the worm screw to set the maximum open and closed positions. On the ATS model equipped with electronic limit switches, move the sliding support along the automation profile to the desired open or closed position and secure it with the screws. In both cases, adjustments should be carried out by a professional installer following the instructions in the motor and paired control panel manual.
What is the maximum width of a swing gate?
- There is no universal limit: it depends on the chosen automation system and the type of entrance. For smaller gates, such as pedestrian gates or posts with narrow pillars, compact articulated-arm solutions are sufficient (e.g., STYLO manages leaves up to 1.8 m). For larger vehicular gates, underground solutions support much wider leaves: FROG reaches up to 3.5 m, while SUPER FROG exceeds 8 m. On a double-leaf gate, the overall opening width is double the maximum leaf length supported by the selected motor.
