Fast, secure and accessible entry: CAME’s solutions for the new Arena del Bosco dello Sport
For the new Arena del Bosco dello Sport in Tessera, Venice, we have implemented an integrated access control system designed to manage pedestrian and vehicle flows safely and efficiently.
The Arena is a multipurpose venue that will host sporting, cultural and entertainment events, and is set to become a landmark for the Venice metropolitan area. Located near Venice Marco Polo Airport, the venue can accommodate up to 10,000 spectators.
THE CHALLENGE
The Arena required an effective solution to manage the high volumes of pedestrian and vehicle traffic typical of a major event venue. The goal was to ensure fast entry and exit while maintaining high safety and security standards.
The system also needed to integrate with ticketing systems and clearly separate the venue’s different functional areas.
Accessibility was another key priority, ensuring that all areas could be easily accessed and used by people with reduced mobility.
THE SOLUTION
For the Arena, we supplied an integrated system comprising 18 four-sector, bidirectional full-height turnstiles BT402-D, 2 motorised swing turnstiles GLB1for people with reduced mobility and 2 GT8 automatic barriers for vehicle access points.
The BT402-D turnstiles manage spectator flows towards the Arena’s different sectors. They are designed for integration with third-party ticketing systems, enabling flexible and fully interoperable access management.
To facilitate access for people with reduced mobility, we installed two GLB1 turnstiles with customisable leaves and a clear passage width of 900 mm, providing easy and comfortable access in line with the highest accessibility standards.
The GT8 automatic barriers control the movement of authorised vehicles, including team buses and service vehicles, ensuring safe and efficient vehicle access management.
PROJECT RESULTS AND BENEFITS
The installed solution meets the operational requirements of a modern multipurpose arena. It is designed to provide reliability and continuous operation, while ensuring smooth, secure and accessible entry for spectators, operators and authorised personnel.
Controlled pedestrian and vehicle flows, together with dedicated accessibility solutions, enable the Arena to maintain high operational standards and deliver an entry experience that reflects the project’s international profile.
The project further demonstrates CAME’s ability to develop advanced technologies for complex infrastructures, seamlessly integrated with the specific operational requirements of each venue.
