Ford and Slater Peterborough required a solution to increase the security and safety of their busy truck dealership site. With up to 500 vehicle movements per day, many of them HGVs, and no method of restricting access during opening hours, the dealership approached Core Technology Projects, a Kings Lynn based automation and security specialist for a solution.

Core have been working alongside CAME since their founding over a decade ago in 2013. A pair of GT8 barriers were the selected solution to protect the entry to the dealership yard and forecourt. Packed with safety, activation, and advanced technology, paired with unparalleled support from the team at CAME, the barriers were an obvious choice.

Tested to withstand intensive use, the 24v barrier motors can operate at an impressive 160 cycles per hour and have an MCBF of 3 million cycles, suited to be installed in demanding situations. For safety, the GT8 has CAME EN force limitation built in. The control board also features flexible safety inputs to connect additional safety such as safety beams. With attractive built in controllable LEDs within the barrier crown and along the length of the arm to aid visibility in the dark and signal when it’s safe to pass through the entranceway. Core also installed a full height barrier skirt that restricts pedestrian access, further guaranteeing the safety of users as well as the site.

Managing Director of Core Technology Projects, Jim Garrett said “These barriers are operating in a high-level environment with a lot of operations a day, so it is critical for the upmost safety and reliability. Which is why the CAME GT8 barriers were chosen.”

Choosing CAME goes beyond supplying industry-leading products. For Core, choosing CAME included knowledge that support would be easy to obtain, be that sales support, tech support or on-site support with Area Manager Matt always on hand to help along the process right through to aftersales.

Partnering with CAME guarantees benefits even after the installation is complete thanks to CAME Connect. This cloud-based tool interfaces with many CAME automation products including the GT8 to bring huge benefits to installers. Setup and commissioning can be completed via CAME Connect using an intuitive digital interface. Once connected, installers can use the system to monitor the automation and get an overview of all their CAME Connected sites.

Jim at Core describes a few of the advantages of the system “the availability of CAME Connect is a massive advantage to us and the end client. It enables us to look at issues quickly, diagnose problems if required and respond to the user quickly. It goes without saying, any future installs will include CAME Connect”.
